Gifts Ideas For Your Daughter’s 18th Birthday
By Tom Harry

Girls grow up and mature very fast! On her 18th birthday you will need to make radical changes in the nature of gifts that you are used to giving her. Your little girl is finally entering into adulthood and the gifts need to be appropriate. Here are a few Ideas for 18th birthday gifts, some of which of course are going to test her maturity.

Brand New Wheels
Remember the car you bought for her, on her 16th birthday. Its time you changed it with a new one. Don’t tell her just yet! Buy the car, park it at a friends’ place and exchange it over night when she is sound asleep. It will be so gratifying to see the look on her face when she gets up and notices that her old drag of a car has been replaced by a new beauty.

A Vacation
Children, after a certain age, seldom stay at home. It’s a high probability that your daughter might be spending her 18th birthday with her best friend. Try something different! Sponsor a holiday for her and her best friend to their favourite location. Put them on a plane or put them on a cruise, it’s your wish, but make sure they have fun and are well attended to.

A Diamond
This, with a certain element of surprise, can become one of the most beautiful 18th birthday gifts she might have ever received from someone. A diamond can say a lot about your feelings for your daughter and how much you care about her and love her.

A Designer Dress
Need we say more? Select on from a good designer but probe in a little bit about the kind of dresses she likes, her favourite colours etc before you buy one for her. Visit a few designer showrooms in your vicinity to get an idea of the things that are available in the market as well as their prices. Once you are confident, place an order online. Do it, a few weeks in advance as deliveries may take a little time.

An Add-On Credit Card
Your daughter might have completed her studies and become a busy professional who is independent and likes to take care of her own finances but just as an added security, give her the advantage of an add-on credit card. Let her enjoy her life to the fullest. Go online and check for some good credit card plans now.

A Laptop
Is your daughter studying to be some sort of corporate professional? If yes, then a laptop might just be the perfect gift for her. Laptops are a bit expensive and might save her the trouble of getting one financed for her in the coming days. We hope you liked these ideas. Hop online for a lot more of them!

Celebrating Your Friends’ 21st Birthday - Some Cool Gift Ideas
By Tom Harry

A number of ideas muster in our heads while making an innovative list of great 21st Birthday gift ideas. As we search online, we can’t help but stumble upon sites that offer the same old boring ideas for 21st birthday gifts. So we decided to make one of our own. We hope you’ll like it!

Here they are:

An LCD TV Screen

There are some big sizes available but we are presuming that a 32″ LCD screen from a popular electronics brand would just do fine. No need to worry about the prices! The LCD screen market has seen a sharp decline in its prices as more and more people are looking to move away from the conventional box television. Go online and check for specifications for some good brands. Trust us! Your friend is going to love it!

Gift Vouchers

Gift vouchers are for the times when you know your friends favourite brands but don’t really know what to buy them. On his/her 21st birthday, get gift vouchers worth a good amount for your friend and let him/her decide on what they would like to have, this birthday.

Gift vouchers from popular designer clothing or an accessories brand is, in a way, better than writing a check or giving some cash to your friend on their birthday.

A Shopping Extravaganza

This one is for the ladies! We are yet to meet a woman who doesn’t like to go shopping. If your girlfriend’s or your sister’s birthday is around the corner, a “shop till you drop” shopping day might just do the trick. Stick to a strict budget if you have to! Otherwise you might land up burning a big hole in your pocket.

Travel In Style

This might sound unusual but is going to make his/her day. Birthdays are a time to go out with friends and family, parties and dinners. Hire a set of swanky wheels for your friend. Make sure you all step out for the party, from your homes, in style.

A Day of Adventure

We don’t mean a journey to the Centre of the planet! Just take him/her out for a day filled with adventurous activities. Start with some bungee jumping, Paragliding, probably white-water rafting if you have an option available nearby!

Other Personalised Gifts

By personalised gifts, we mean gifts that can have your friends’ name printed or engraved on them. These may include gifts like coffee mugs, champagne flutes etc.

Apart from these conventional ones, we also came across this really wacky idea! How does a personalised newspaper with a headline saying, “Congratulations on completing 21 years of life” sound? Isn’t it amazing! Imagine the look on your friend’s face when he’ll get up in the morning, rubbing his eyes only to read a newspaper headline congratulating him on his birthday.

Just go online and look for details on this one!

Birthday Party Favors For Adults - Goodies are Not Just For Kids!
By Sarita Haines

Birthday party favors are not just for kids anymore. Adults love leaving a party with a remembrance of the occasion, particularly if favors are useful, special, personalized or delicious.

Useful Party Favor Ideas

Useful party favors for adults could be a selection of nice bath products like soaps or lotions. Spa-type gifts such as bath salts or scented candles are also welcome (particularly for ladies) and are something people do not often buy for themselves.

Special Party Treats

One of our favorite special party favors for adults is a framed photo. Choose a photograph that has some significance to the birthday party attendees. If it is a family birthday party, think about your family heirloom photos. Make duplicates and place copies in purchased picture frames for each member of the family.

Personalized Party Gifts

We also enjoy giving personalized party favors to adults. Some lovely stationery with their initials, or a book with a written inscription can be a personal and treasured memento.

Edible Party Goodies

Finally, the favor we like the best is the edible kind. One thing we like to do is make cupcakes from the same recipe as the birthday cake. We then send guests home with one or two beautiful cupcakes set in an attractive box. Sometimes guests are not always feeling like birthday cake at a party, but you give them a taste for later when they are ready.

Another option is giving out other types of baked goods. Mini loaves of banana bread wrapped up in decorative paper conveys warmth and will always be remembered by guests.

Kids Birthday Party Food - Three Simple Steps For a Lunchtime Celebration
By Daphne Bousquet

Kids birthday party food should be simple. In fact, unless your kids birthday celebration falls during lunch or dinner hours, you may not need to serve food at all. Here are 3 steps that keep your lunch time celebration easy and fun.

Step 1
Determine if you need to serve lunch. If your kids party time falls anywhere between 11am and 12:30pm, you’ll want to serve food. Many kids are used to eating around 11am or 11:30am, so if your party starts or concludes at that time, be prepared. You also don’t want to send the kids home, hyped up on sugar and cake and have their parents try to feed them lunch after the party.

Step 2
Determine what to feed the kids. You’ll want to keep it simple. Remember, this is not a gourmet crowd! Finger foods are always popular. It will also save you on plastic utensils. What a deal, you save money and the environment. Go for juice boxes with 100% juice. With the sweet birthday cake to follow, you really don’t need to add more sugar to the mix.

Step 3
Consider a cupcake birthday cake. These birthday cakes pull apart, because they are made with cupcakes. They come in many themes and are very affordable, because you can determine how many cupcakes you need. It is also much easier to serve and you can have a variety of flavors all in one cake.

Keep your kids birthday party food simple. With these 3 simple steps you’ll determine whether you’ll need to serve lunch, what to serve for lunch and how to serve the all important birthday cake.

40th Birthday Party Games
By Gail Leino

Often jokesters want to celebrate a 40th birthday with a basic black mourning theme but why not put a different spin on things with an upbeat selection of 40th Birthday Party Games. Unfortunately, the 40th birthday party is probably one of the first for which careful attention to special diets must be given by the hostess.

The good news though is that by the time a person has reached his 40th birthday he often has managed to accumulate a pretty good supply of games and/or athletic equipment. This will probably make it a cinch to organize a round-robin tournament of one kind or another. Let’s say billiards, darts, table tennis or chess would make a good start to such a list. Hopefully, these will be games familiar to the guests making this fairly serious competition.

Be sure to indicate the nature of the 40th birthday party games on the invitations since some seasoned players will want to bring their own paddles, cues, darts or other pertinent equipment. Also it will be best to print off score sheets since round-robin is a fairly complex and confusing tournament style which is designed to allow all contestants to play each other in separate matches. These score sheets are arranged in a grid with the players names listed vertically to left of the sheets and their corresponding letter or number ordered horizontally. Overlapping points along lines and columns indicate match order. To the far right then are columns listing “”wins”", “”points for”", “”points against”" and “”standing”". Each player must keep his own scorecard and in general the winner of the tournament is the winner of the most matches. In the event of a tie a tie breaker match can be held in the 40th birthday game. The round-robin may be a very long process so it’s important to allow enough time and start promptly.

Mrs. Party… Gail Leino takes a common sense approach to planning and organizing events, celebrations and holiday parties with unique ideas for 40th birthday party supplies and fun free educational party games. She explains proper etiquette and living a healthy life while also teaching organizational skills and fun facts. Over 100 adorable Party Themes to fit your birthday celebration, holiday event, or “just because” parties is at the Party Theme Shop. Happy 21st Birthday - Celebrate Your Way!
By Ashley Harrell

Everyone is entitled to a happy 21st birthday. Turning 21 is a special birthday, the last in a line of special birthdays. Turning 16 celebrates coming of age, turning 18 celebrates entering adulthood responsibilities like voting and entering contracts, turning 21 is the last birthday where you get more privileges and responsibilities, and you can enter the legal world of drinking.

Because this day is so special, you shouldn’t let it slip by unnoticed. Here are a few tips and tricks to having a great and creative 21st birthday.

1. Free Drinks! We all know you underage soon-to-be 21-year-olds out there haven’t been to a bar yet, so you might not know some of the perks of your 21st birthday. Most bars and taverns offer a “well drink” or draft beer on the house for birthday visitors just turning 21. A well drink is a drink that uses cheap, non-brand liquors. For sensitive taste buds, cranberry and vodka will taste great no matter what kind of vodka they use.

2. Variety! If you are eager to flash your brand new ID, going out to a couple of pubs can make for a great night out, as long as you make sure you have a safe ride home. But for those of you who don’t like to live out on the town, a quick stop to the liquor store for a party at home can be just as rewarding. A 21st birthday is fun and exciting, getting to do something for the first time, but you may find that drinking loses some of its excitement once that legal barrier’s been crossed. If you want this to be the beginning of a long fun journey, take some time to experiment and see what you really like. There is so much to choose from, beers from all over the world that come in light and dark flavors, ales, lagers, pilsners, and stouts, red and white wines, dessert wines (I highly recommend the Bavarian Ice Wine), ports, liquors and liqueurs, and creams and flavors. There also are a ton of things you can mix in to make a unique and delicious drinking experience like juices, sodas, coffee, water, salt and sugar. Special adult beverages never lose their excitement if you have one that you love!

3. Get out of the bar! You can also go someplace unexpected for your 21st birthday and still get to flash your ID. You haven’t had a complete restaurant experience until you get to order the house special with your meal. A trip to the renaissance festival will be a great way to try out some old fashioned mead. You can tour a local winery or a microbrewery. See how these great drinks are made, try some samples, and support local businesses. Or you can find a movie theater near you that serves alcohol and go catch a great movie.

If you’re coming close to a 21st birthday, there are no limits to how you can celebrate your big day. The only things that matter are that you have fun and stay safe.

The Lowry - Celebrating Its Tenth Birthday in 2009
By Roo Sadegi

If you’re planning a holiday to Manchester this year, be sure to stop by to join in the celebration of The Lowry Theatre’s tenth birthday.

The Lowry opened in April of 2000, an inviting, modern building of glass and metal situated to reflect the surrounding water and landscapes of the rejuvenated docklands of Salford Quays. More than a theatre, it also houses studio and gallery space to showcase a wide variety of visual and performing arts. Scheduled shows include a wide variety of performers including jazz, ballet, popular music, children’s shows, musicals, and other popular presentations. If you’re on holiday, Manchester hotels staff should be able to help you find your way to this beautiful landmark, and help you find appropriate performances and activities on the current schedule.

For a family outing, The Lowry provides a Family Corner, family-oriented talks, Hide-and-Seek Trails, interactive resources and a variety of other activities and performances to keep the little ones as entertained as the adults. The Lowry also houses the Centre for Advanced Training in Dance, helping carry the artistic traditions of this art form into the next generation. The Lowry also hosts graduations, weddings and other special events.

In addition to work by L.S. Lowry himself, shown in rotating exhibitions to include a large variety of his work, the theatre has exhibited numerous works of art by various painters and photographers. Current exhibitions (into early 2010) include a series of photos of actors by Simon Annand and fine art photos focusing on circus troupes by Anderson and Low.

The venue also offers historical information about the City of Manchester in Salford’s Tourist Information Centre, which is housed in the Theatre. Learn more about the Quays and Greater Manchester while enjoying the stately elegance of this beautiful theatre.

A number of Manchester hotels are situated within convenient reach of The Lowry, making it a must-stop destination for your Manchester holiday. Hotels in Manchester will happily supply patrons with information about currently running shows and exhibitions. Also available to patrons of hotels in Manchester is information about other popular destinations at the Quays, all within easy walking distance of this historic venue and the Manchester City Centre.

Your 25th Birthday: An Important Halfway Point
By Gail Leino

By the 25th birthday most people expect to have accomplished something with their lives. There’s only five more years until that big three-O and the average person usually hopes that they are well on their way by their 25th year. They’ll have settled into a place of their own, a job and may even be starting a family all ready. Some new twenty-five year olds might be thinking that they want their party to be a little more grown-up, a little more sensible around this time.

Of course that’s fairly normal. After all the 25th birthday is an important milestone signifying stability and foundation. Even the music channel, MTV recently celebrated its 25th year of existence in 2006.

The average birthday is also considered an anniversary, this one being of the 25th year of the day you were born and the 25th anniversary is also known as the silver anniversary. Lots of silver decorations can add both elegance and an interesting theme to the birthday party. Plastic silver colored fedoras can be great party favors to give out to guests or as prizes. Other nice party favors are silver glasses and even silver beads. Silver or platinum colored cups, plates and napkins can usually be found with intricate designs in ink or embossed on them for the guests to eat off of.

Traditional party birthday cakes used to have small prizes mixed into the batter for people to find. Since this is the 25th birthday party you could mix in some quarters with the batter. Do warn your guests before they start eating though. Better yet use quarters and money in general in the theme of the party. Scatter plastic play money around the buffet table and hang it from the ceiling. Party loot bags can include quarters for the guests to use.
