40th Birthday Gag Gifts
By Chris Campbell

There are several ways to view turning 40. One is absolute depression at the thought of turning an age you previously only associated with your parents, old age homes, and mini vans. Conversely, the old soon-to-be-ancient-almost-40-year-old could try and pretend, like it doesn’t really matter. Just another number sort of thing. If that works, then hey good for them. The final and most popular way, is with humor. Both on the part of the birthday boy/girl, and on the people around them.

With that in mind, one of the best things you the gift giver can do, is to try and cheer up the hapless soul by making fun of them. And, usually the best way to do that is with the gift of gags / humor / over-the-hill type gifts. After all, this getting older is pretty serious stuff. One step closer to meeting Mr. Grim Reaper, and all. If this wasn’t a time for humor, I don’t know what is.

The other nice things about gag gifts as presents, is they’re usually not very expensive. This should make the cheapskates in the crowd happy. Unless of course, you decide to go for something like sending a dozen strippers to their office, on the day the birthday fella is expecting a big promotion from their boss the ultra serious actuary. While this may be a very funny gag, it’s also pretty expensive.

A gag gift mug, turning 40 survival guide, or “This is what a really cool 40 year old looks like” t-shirt is probably a little more budget conscious, which is a good thing these days. Plus, your 40 year old friend gets to keep their job, and stay your friend at the same time.

Be sure to visit this 40th Birthday Gag Gifts Website for more suggestions.

Or, maybe a Superbowl gift basket would be more appropriate?

Pig Birthday Party Ideas
By Crystal Mclain

There is something about pigs and kids. They love pigs and they even ask their parents for pig themed birthday parties. So when your child asks you for this type of birthday party, don’t panic about how to throw one as these birthday party ideas are here to help you.

Make Pig Tails
Along with the snout, the pig tail is what is most recognizable on the pig. These are really easy to make and easy to attach to the backs of the kids so they can pretend they are pigs as well. Just take a pipe cleaner, twirl it up and then attach it to the kid’s back with string or tape. You can even have the kids add things to the pig tail if they want!

Pig Impersonations
If they are going to have pig tails on, then why not have the kids pretend to be pigs with pig impersonations? Have each kid come up in front of everyone and give their best pig impression, complete with noises and movements. The kids will have a lot of fun with this and it’s a great way to set the mood for a Pig themed birthday party. Make sure all the kids get some type of prize at the end of the contest so no one feels left out.

Pie Eating Contest
Pigs love to get their faces into their food, and the kids will too when you put some pies in front of them to dive into. Have a pie eating contest and let the kids be their messiest as they eat like piglets at the table. Award prizes to whoever finishes first. Remember, its not who wins or loses in a pie eating contest, it is who gets the most food on them. Be sure to put something over the kids bodies so they don’t get their clothes dirty.

Being a pig is not always acceptable in society, but at a pig themed birthday party it is completely acceptable! Just use some imagination and you can have a great pig party for your kids, one they will remember for a very long time.

Five Ways to Make First Birthday Special
By Beverly Frank

First birthday parties are special for a number of reasons. Even just sixty or seventy years ago a first birthday party was a big deal because there was a good reason to celebrate a child surviving their first year. We don’t realize that for much of human history young children have struggled to survive, largely due to disease or the lack of proper medication and nourishment. Many parents simply hoped that the child would live past the first few months. This is partly why people had far more children than we have today. They hoped that at least a few of them would survive the first year or two, after which time they would have had a much greater chance of surviving.

This is one very important reason to celebrate a first birthday. Another significant reason is that at the first year a child is becoming a bit more of an individual. A first birthday party is a chance to celebrate that child as an individual and to welcome them into a family. This means that first birthdays are important and need to be planned and celebrated well. Obviously it might not mean much to the birthday boy or girl, but there is something significant for parents, relatives and friends. It gives them a chance to get to know the child and to show support. It helps to start a tradition of support for the rest of the child’s life.

So how do you make such a special occasion truly special? What do you do to give the event just the right sort of life? There are many things but I describe some of the most important below.

1. Decorate the house and clean it. Decorating the house is what gives the sense of something special. Otherwise the party is like any other activity in the home, especially to a child who may not fully comprehend the event. Make sure that your house is clean to show respect for the guests who will be coming.

2. Play some sort of lively background music. You want the atmosphere to be light and energetic for a first birthday party. Be sure that things are not so loud that the baby is disturbed, but help to create a lively, warm environment.

3. Let everyone see the baby. Part of the purpose of the party is to show support for the child, and this is hard to do if the baby is not out for others to see. Dress the baby up in their finest clothes for the occasion.

4. If guests ask, be sure to tell them the things that they should give as gifts. A first birthday party is an important occasion for getting things that you will need. Ask for things like a carriage or more baby clothing. Realize that people expect to give helpful gifts at a first birthday party.

5. Provide some sort of gift favor for the party. I would highly recommend a picture of the baby with some fond thoughts written on the back. This will give all of the guests something with which to remember the baby and the party. Since the point of the party is to let people see the baby and get to know them, a picture is a great party favor.

These are just a few ideas for how to make a first birthday party special. Brainstorm with friends and family for other ideas. All parents with older children should be able to give you good advice about how to throw a successful first birthday party.

How to Make Your Own Birthday Invitation Postcards
By Gina Nuqui

Birthdays will never be complete without invitations, because these contain the essential information about the party. Birthday invitations are either generic or personalized. Generic birthday invitations are ideal for people who do not have enough time to design their own birthday invitations, because they can already buy birthday invitations in stores. However, the problem with generic invitations is that they tend to look boring and predictable.

Personalized birthday invitations are ideal if you want your invitations to look creative and unique. A good alternative to the traditional birthday invitation is an invitation postcard. Below are design tips that can help you come up with your own invitation postcards.

• Choose a theme and stick to it. Designing your invitation postcards will be easy if you already have a certain concept in mind, because the theme already dictates the other elements that you can apply on your design. The theme of your invitation postcard must come in harmony with your birthday theme to achieve consistency.

• Experiment with size: The size of your birthday postcards can do wonders on your design, so do not be afraid in experimenting with your invitation postcards. You can try oversized postcards printing for a little twist. Your guests will surely be delighted to see an oversized invitation postcard in their mailbox.

• Make invitation postcards festive with images. Images add more creativity on your postcard design. You can even use images as alternative to words. For instance, instead of using the word cake, why not use an image of a cake on your invitation’s message?

• Use a readable font. As much as possible, stick to fonts that are easy to read to avoid confusion. You should also consider the font size that you are going to use on your invitation postcards. Fonts that are too big might eat up too much space on your postcard while fonts that are too small may be hard to read.

Add a dash of color. Colors add life to your postcard design, but be careful in choosing the right color combination. There are colors that complement each other while there are colors that so not work well with each other.

Send Birthday Greetings to Someone You Know Through SMS!
By Kristi Ambrose

Ah the age of technology. I just love it. Nowadays you can do just about anything on or over the Internet. As long as you have a connection of some kind; blue-tooth or otherwise - then you can accomplish almost anything you want! Recently I was looking for some sites online that allow you to find birthday SMS messages because my friends bday is coming up and I wanted to wish her a happy birthday in a unique way! We always do special stuff for each other when it comes to our bdays. Never anything super boring! An SMS is just a fancy word for a text message but the acronym actually means - Short Message Service aka text message! I found a few sites that actually give you a ton of ideas through the website.

This is actually a really easy thing to do and you can do it in all kinds of languages not just standardized English. This is always nice as well because NOT everyone speaks or reads English! I have a best friend that knows VERY little English - he is Dutch. So when it comes to stuff like this, I try to make it as easy on him as I can. The first thing you have to do is find the site you want for the birthday SMS message. After you do so you should see a few different categories on the website itself - usually languages such as Dutch, English, French, Italian, Hindi, Russian, Spanish, etc. So when you pick a specific category - you will be given birthday messages in that language.

So if we take a look at Spanish, we can see things like: \”Feliz Cumpleanos! Deseandote buena salud y felicidad en la vida\” which means (I think) \”Happy Birthday To You! To Good Health & Happiness In Your Life\” or something along the lines of that. My Spanish is rusty! Which is why you should send me an English SMS! Anyway, you can find all kinds of different messages. Things like happy wishes, birthday jokes, memories, etc. Once you find the one you want simply type it into your phone and voila send. That person will receive your text and smile brightly that you even remembered it was their birthday. And even more - you actually spent a few minutes to send something unique instead of the usual \”Happy Birthday!\”

Also, if you really wanted to or if you don’t have a cell phone - you can find text messages on these sites and then go to a free SMS sending site and just do a copy/paste in the sender message box and send it like that. It would save you from typing it out, its super quick, and its fun! Try it out and see for yourself!

Some Funny 50th Birthday Quotes
By Bob Brahm

50th birthday is special in the life of everyone because it is what we call the half milestone, when you have completed half a century of living on this earth. It is when you start feeling young even though your grand kid can ride the bicycle. This is the age when you look back on all the good things you have done and regret those things that you never did.

Jeff Bezos who started Amazon.com once said that he started amazon because he felt that he should do something he should be proud of, looking back or rather, he should not regret not having done something like that. He calls it the regret minimization framework. He felt the need to minimize his regrets when he grew older. At 50, if you have not done much you tend to regret, but what you should remember is that, 5o is not the end of the journey. It is just the half milestone and you have a long way to go. If you want to start something afresh at 50, then 50 is also just a good a year as any and looking at it in an even more positive way, it is just the right age to start something great.

You have experience in your hand, and it is something a bright 20 year old will take 30 years to earn. And by 50 you have made a lot of contacts and have given out your share of favors and the time to call in those favors. It is a great feeling to be 50 and to reach there is an accomplishment itself which should be celebrated.

This is a very special birthday but this is also a birthday that you wish should never come, but when it does come you realize that you have crossed the half milestone. Here are some quotes that you can use in the greeting cards or birthday wishes. But do remember that if it is your friend who is turning 50, then you will also be 50 soon, so chose your quote well.

“Forty is the old age of youth; fifty is the youth of old age” ~ French proverb”

“Nature gives you the face you have at twenty, but it’s up to you to merit the face you have at fifty.”
~ Coco Chanel

“After a man is 50, you can fool him by saying he is smart, but you can’t fool him by saying he is pretty. ”
~ E.W. House

“Happy 20th anniversary of your 30th Birthday!”
~A cute saying

“50 years of age: The older you are, the wiser you become. The closer to 70, more childish you will be.”
~ Unknown

“At age 50, everyone has the face he deserves.”
~ George Orwell

“To me, old age is always 20 years older than I am. ”
~ Unknown

First Birthday Invitation Sayings
By Tom Bross

Your child’s first birthday is definitely a reason to celebrate and invite the whole world over to join you. For that you’ll need birthday invitations, but even more important, you’ll need some first birthday invitation sayings to put on them. Typically, the birthday invitation wording should be fun and playful, and perhaps matching an overall theme of the party. It’s very common to see invitation wording for first birthday’s to have a rhyming scheme or be in verse form. Here are some examples of some possible first birthday invitation verses:

“Our baby girl is turning one,
Come join us for a day of fun!”

Or,

“It’s already time for his first birthday party,
Come celebrate with us and don’t be tardy!”

You might consider including a theme. For example, if you want to have a princess themed party, you’ll want to have the Royal Princess Party Invitations or the Little Princess Party Invitation. With wording to match, such as:

“Our little Princess requests your presence at a party in her honor,
To celebrate her first birthday.
Please join us at our castle on August 1st at 1PM.”

Or if your little boy is having a dinosaur themed party, you’ll want to have the Dinosaur Birthday Invitation with wording to match, such as:

“Saturday the 12th Alex turns one,
There’s sure to be cake, ice cream and fun.
We can’t wait to see you at our door,
You might even see a dinosaur!”

It’s also recommended that you include a map with directions with the First Birthday Party Invitation, along with a contact phone number so that people can contact you in case they get lost. You can include this information in the body of the party invitation, such as:

“One candle on the cake,
On August 1st, don’t be late!
Our baby’s wish, he’s turning one,
Is that you’ll be there for all the fun!
Join us at 1234 West Park Street at 1PM
Please RSVP by July 25th
212-567-8910″

It can also be written on the back, separate from the birthday invitation wording, whatever your preference.

Some additional first birthday invitation saying suggestions:

“Fee, Fie, Foe, Fum,
Little Johnny’s turning one!
His nursery rhyme party is almost here,
We hope we’ll get to see you there!”

“Ice Cream, Cookies, Cake, oh my!
You’re invited, so don’t be shy!
A party for our little boy,
He’s turning one, oh what a joy!”

Remember, you don’t have to use rhymes.

“It’s party time!
Join us for Ryan’s 1st Birthday
Saturday 14th 2:00 - 4:00 pm
The Larken house
1603 “N” Street
Regrets only 707-234-5678″

First birthdays are fun so don’t hesitate being creative and crafting a message that makes people smile. Or keep it simple, convey the facts and share the smiles during your little one’s special day.

The Perfect Birthday Party For Your Boy
By Chuck R Stewart

Shopping for a birthday gift for a boy can be somewhat overwhelming with all the electronics, action figures, and video games. Simple gift options that are still cool in the eyes of little boys are sports cards. There is a wide array of different types of cards, even football cards. Though finding a gift can be a pain, planning a birthday party for a young boy can be even more work.

Trying to decide who to invite to the party with your son or brother (or whoever the boy is that you are planning the party for) can be kind of difficult. During elementary school years, there is a lot of pressure on kids to invite people to prevent anyone at school from getting upset. To prevent your son or brother from upsetting anyone at school, you could potentially invite his entire class. However, inviting an entire class could be way too many kids and potentially too expensive. If you do end up having your son or brother invite only his close friends, it is a good idea to contact their parents about not talking about the party at school.

The next step is to think about if you want to do a themed party. You could do a party based on whatever hobby your son or brother is interested in. Sports parties are an easy one to plan. To do a large extravagant sports party, you could rent out a sports complex to let them play the party. If he is more interested in something like music, magic, or a popular cartoon, you could consider hiring some sort of performer for the party.

Another thing to think about when planning a party is what you want to do about food for the guests. It’s usually easiest to buy a selection of snacks and candy and put them out in bowls for the kids to eat throughout the day. Then later in the night, you could always order pizza for an actual meal. Birthday cakes are a must have and an excuse to be a little creative. You could order a cake decorated to match the theme of the party or with a picture of the birthday boy on it. Another option is to cook the cake yourself which is harder but a lot of fun. They sell molds for different interesting shaped cakes and there is a lot of information online about how to bake fun cakes for birthdays.

Another little thing to think about when planning a birthday party is putting together gift bags for all the guests. An easy way to do gift bags is to go to the dollar store to find fun little toys and candy. A fun idea is to get little disposable cameras for each of the kids who attend the party. That way they can all take home photos from the party. Then you could give them each a little photo album or have them make little frames for the photos they take.

Chuck R Stewart recently sold his old football cards to a collector for a nice little profit. He also sold his old sports cards.
